INTRODUCTION

2017 is a year where we mainly focus on the intervention in the two identified clusters (EHC through FLTR in 1st cluster (Obekai) and community driven and owned IGAs/CBOs in 2nd cluster (Kabula).

Apart from that, there are other events that are progressively scheduled through out the year.

M & E NACOSTI TEAM VISIT

From 20th to 24th March 2017, the NACOSTI Monitoring and Evaluation team visited the URCP team for general briefing on the study progress, financial review, field sites visits in Kabula and Kakamega, then finally to Obekai intervention site.

It was a really productive meeting enhancing interaction and exchange of ideas between the M & E team, URCP team and the community at large.

REFRESHER TRAINING

On the weekend of 28th and 29th April, the URCP did a refresher training hosted at Kabula Pastoral Centre. The purpose of the training was for the team and the project staff to interact and review operations, adherance to protocols, shortfalls and recommendations and come up with project operational conclusions as they move forward.

It was also a good morale booster and team building occassion involving the URCP team leaders and the entire staff. Fun moments and Meals were shared

INVITATION BY NACOSTI

The Moi University Research Chair Program team was invited on 30th March 2017 by the NACOSTI Management team during the launch of the second Research Chair program on biotechnology and manufacturing awarded to Jomoo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in collaboration with other universities.

The team highlighted on the progress, challanges, lessons learnt and recommendations on how best to run another program. Prof. Mabel Nangami did the presentation on behalf of the team at Laico Hotel Nairobi
